PRESS RELEASE 16 October 2012

Salans is Main Sponsor at INSOL Europe Annual Congress in Brussels
International law firm Salans was the Main Sponsor of this year’s INSOL Europe Annual Congress in Brussels, an annual conference for European restructuring and insolvency specialists. The event was addressed by the European Commission Secretary-General Catherine Day and former Belgian Prime Minister and MEP Guy Verhofstad who spoke about the future of Europe and how it will overcome the Euro crisis. The two-day conference was attended by more than 400 insolvency specialists from across Europe, including Salans’ Reorganisation, Restructuring & Insolvency Practice Group members from Berlin, London, New York, Paris, Prague and Warsaw. Topics covered at the event included sovereign debt issues and the effect on practices, overhaul of the European Insolvency Regulation and distressed investing in EU states. Claude Montgomery, Global Head of Salans’ Reorganisation, Restructuring & Insolvency Practice Group, said: “Salans was delighted to be the Main Sponsor of this year’s INSOL Europe Annual Congress in Brussels. The conference is a signature event for anyone in restructuring and insolvency, and a great forum for participants to discuss and debate the current issues affecting the industry. The policy prescriptions by the European Commission Secretary-General Catherine Day and former Belgian Prime Minister and MEP Guy Verhofstad at this year’s event were particularly insightful and will help practitioners understand and anticipate future Eurozone developments. We look forward to meeting INSOL Europe’s leadership and our colleagues next year in Paris .” Salans’ Global Reorganisation, Restructuring & Insolvency Practice provides cross-border solutions and domestic law responses to complex restructuring cases across the firm’s 20 offices in 17 countries. Its international lawyers act for investors, accounting firms, financial institutions, corporate borrowers and other key stakeholders.
