After years of e-events, e-conferences, e-things, it is such a pleasure to have the opportunity to host the Eastern European Countries’ Committee Conference in the beautiful city of Vilnius, not in the metaverse.

Since the last EECC conference, the world has changed, Europe has changed. Businesses are now navigating war, the cost of living crisis, rising interest rates, high energy costs, etc. The
Insolvency landscape has also changed and continues to change, leading to a lot of challenges
for the insolvency practitioners community when dealing with national legislation but also with the European Legislation. Whereas our community is just beginning to work with the implemented version of the EU Directive on restructuring and insolvency and the sanctions packages legislation, we can already see a new EU Proposal for a Directive harmonising certain aspects of insolvency law on the horizon. Challenges appear when dealing with companies but also when advising entrepreneurs facing distress situations and financial difficulties. How to solve business at an early stage? How to prevent the business from falling into liquidation? How to protect interests of parties involved in insolvency proceedings? How to preserve the entrepreneur from feeling opprobrium?

To discuss these challenges, to share views on them and good practises, to have the opportunity to meet again in person, we are most delighted to invite you to the amazing city of Vilnius for the INSOL Europe Eastern European Countries’ Committee Conference which will focus on “2023 Restructuring and Insolvency Practitioners survival Kit” and will be held from 18 to 19 May 2023 organised in cooperation with Mykolo Romerio Universitetas.

We are excited to announce Robert Peldan from Finland as the Facilitator for this year's conference. Although many of our members are already familiar with Robert, for those who may not be, he has a wealth of experience in the field of insolvency and corporate restructuring, having been involved in over 1000 assignments in his career. He has also served as an administrator in bankruptcy and restructuring cases. Last but not least, Robert is the INSOL Europe Young Members Group (YMG) Co-Chair.

Vilnius is a compact and walkable city filled with urban green spaces and healthy doses of impressive architecture, tasty eats and all kinds of exciting leisure activities. Vilnius’ UNESCO-listed medieval Old Town is one of Eastern Europe’s biggest and most well preserved. Vilnius is quickly building a reputation as a fresh destination with dynamic arts and culture scenes, seemingly endless culinary delights, and all kinds of events.

Some say that “Boring isn’t an option in Vilnius!” It’s a city packed with action, art, inspiration, history and more than a few unexpected adventures along the way. In parallel with the existing technical programme, you will have the opportunity to get lost in this beautiful city which promises you beautiful discoveries.

Download a tourist guide to Vilnius here to see exactly what the town has to offer.

We look forward to welcoming you very warmly in this magnificent setting filled with promise!
