BrewDog creditors owed £190m will not be paid in full, say administrators
BrewDog’s administrators, AlixPartners, have warned that creditors, who in total are owed more than £190m, will not be repaid in full following the brewer’s collapse. Earlier this year Tilray acquired its brand, intellectual property, UK breweries and 11 bars for around £33m, but this also resulted in 38 bars being closed and 440 jobs lost. Investments held by 200,000 crowdfunding shareholders were also completely wiped out.

It is reported that creditors are now expected to receive less than a penny in the pound. Staff who were owed c£489,000 in wages and holiday pay have been compensated through the government’s redundancy payment scheme, but insufficient funds remain to reimburse the government or settle £2.4m in tax debts.

HSBC is expected to recover approximately £42m of its £61m debt, while private equity firm TSG will lose nearly £28m in loans. Administrators cited additional property costs and limited asset sale proceeds as factors affecting recoveries.
