Eastern European Countries’ Committee Conference 2016 - Cluj-Napoca

Date
12-05-2016 to 13-05-2016
Location
Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania, Romania

In 2016 INSOL Europe is indeed fortunate to have been invited to hold its Eastern European Countries’ Committee conference (EECC) in Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania (Romania) on 12 & 13 May. This follows a very successful 2015 one-day conference held in Vilnius and attended by delegates from all over Europe.

The theme of this year’s conference is to be ‘New Trends in Insolvency: Distressed Investing and the evolution of Personal Insolvency across Eastern Europe' and will include sessions and case studies with expert panellists and speakers from a wide range of disciplines. It is foreseen that this will create lively debates on the issues to be covered, relevant to today’s evolving situation and current insolvency developments.

The Co-Chairs of the EECC (Evert Verwey, Clifford Chance LLP, Netherlands and Radu Lotrean, CITR, Romania) are very grateful to the conference technical committee consisting of Nigel Davis (Wyn River, UK) and Vasile Godinca-Herlea (CITR, Romania) for assembling an interesting and varied conference programme. The conference will be conducted in English with simultaneous translation available in Romanian.

About Cluj-Napoca

Cluj-Napoca is the second most populous city in Romania, after the national capital Bucharest, and the seat of Cluj County in the northwestern part of the country. Geographically, it is roughly equidistant from Bucharest (324 km), Budapest (351 km) and Belgrade (322 km). Located in the Someșul Mic River valley, the city is considered the unofficial capital to the historical province of Transylvania.

Today the city is one of the most important academic, cultural, industrial and business centres in Romania. Among other institutions, it hosts the country's largest university, Babeș-Bolyai University, with its famous botanical garden; nationally renowned cultural institutions; as well as the largest Romanian-owned commercial bank. In 2015, Cluj-Napoca has been designated as the ‘European Youth Capital’. (www.europeanyouthcapital.org)

We very much look forward to welcoming you at this conference and hope that you will not only benefit from the business sessions but also from the considerable networking opportunities including the optional networking dinner on the day before the conference.
