On behalf of the INSOL Europe Academic Forum, we are delighted to invite you the most important event of the year for insolvency academics in Europe, the INSOL Europe Academic Forum Conference, taking place on from 2-3 October in Italy.
This year, the conference will take place in the wonderful town of Sorrento, between the breath-taking Amalfi coast and the historical sites of Pompei and Herculaneum, easily accessible from nearby Naples. The conference programme, however, will stand in sharp contrast to the archaeological surroundings and will focus on the present and future of European insolvency law.
Again, the range of subjects covered by this year’s conference is such that your field(s) of interest will most certainly be covered. It reaches from early restructuring to judicial review, harmonization of avoidance claims and cross-border issues. A particular session will be dedicated to the relationship between environmental risks and insolvency. We look forward to inspiring discussions and exchanges in all these areas. Another highlight of the conference will be our Gabriel Moss Memorial Lecture, which this year will be held by Prof. Stefania Bariatti.
Like every year, academics, post-docs, researchers and practitioners are welcome to this unique opportunity to exchange research results, ideas, interests, cases and contact details across Europe... Don’t miss it - register early!

Distance from Naples International Airport: 54km
There are various different transportation options between Naples Airport and Sorrento: Taxi, Bus, Train or Ferry. We have included details for the two most convenient options below, however more information can be found here.
Train: €8.60 each way / 130 minutes
The economical and sustainable way to reach Club Sorrento Hotel is via the train. Please note: this is not the conference hotel, this is the nearby budget-friendly accommodation reserved (assuming you wish to check in first before the event begins).
Upon arrival at Naples Airport, you need to get a shuttle bus to the train station. Follow signs to Alibus Shuttle and pay €5.00 for a one-way ticket to Naples Central Station. Tickets can be purchased online, at the airport ticket machine or on board with the driver. The journey takes 15 minutes, departs every 15 minutes - 24 hours a day!
Once at the train station, you need to buy a €3.60 ticket for the Circumvesuviana train to Sant'Agnello. Tickets can be purchased from the newspaper stands at the station. Alternatively, if you have a contactless debit/credit card you can tap this on the card reader as you enter and exit the train, your card will automatically be charged. Tickets cannot be purchased online for this service. The journey takes 110 minutes and departs every 40 minutes, the train schedule can be found here.
When you have arrived at Sant'Agnello station, Club Sorrento Hotel is a 5 minute walk away.
Taxi: 150 euros each way / 60 minutes
The fastest way to reach Sorrento is via taxi, there is a dedicated airport taxi rank immediately outside the arrivals hall. We always recommend car sharing wherever possible to reduce emissions and divide the cost!
