Follow the tide or surf the wave: Stay afloat in a fragmented world
The waters are shifting. Geopolitical storms, regulatory headwinds and fragmented national frameworks are testing the resilience of businesses and professionals alike.

For restructuring and insolvency professionals, the question is no longer whether the landscape will change, but how to respond. Do you follow the tide, adapting steadily to what comes your way? Or do you surf the wave, seizing the momentum of change to forge new ground?

This is the challenge INSOL Europe invites you to explore at its 45th Annual Congress in Vilamoura, Portugal, from 15 to 18 October 2026, where our community will gather to navigate, together, a world in fragments.
The wave is coming. Will you ride it?

Technical Programme
After an unprecedented number of proposals, the 45th Annual Congress Technical Committee is working hard to finalise the programme which will feature inter alia the following topics:

  • Navigating Fragmentation: Geopolitical Risks
  • Measuring What Matters: Restructuring and Insolvency Performance Data
  • Last in Line or Still in the Game? Shareholder Rights in European Restructuring
  • Back to Square 0.5: Pre-Pack Bankruptcy
  • Man, Machine & The Courtroom
  • Private equity and alternative investment funds: When their shelf-life date expire
  • Soft skills in Financial Distress Situations
  • Asset Tracing and Recovery: What's New?
  • The 28th Wave: Europe's New EU Inc. Hits the Shore

The crew is assembled. The course is being set. Don't miss the boat!

Our Annual Congress technical programme is worth 10 hours of training (excluding breaks). Harriet Taylor (harriet@insol-europe.org) can provide a certificate of attendance and a copy of the technical programme, which you can forward to the relevant organisation as evidence.  Some associations require daily attendance to be verified. We will have sign-in/sign-out sheets available at our registration desk for this purpose.

Professional associations that award CPD / CPE points for congress attendance include:

Frankfurt Bar Association (Regional Bar Association in Germany)  in accordance with Section 15 of the German Specialist Lawyers' Regulations (Fachanwaltsordnung – FAO)
Requirements: attendance certificate with a copy of the technical programme and proof of sign-in/sign-out each conference day

CNAJMJ (French National Council of Insolvency Practitioners)
Requirements: attendance certificate with a copy of the technical programme

INSOLAD (Dutch Insolvency Practitioners Association)
Requirements: attendance certificate with a copy of the technical programme and proof of sign-in/sign-out each conference day

This list is not exhaustive. Members are encouraged to check with their own professional body whether attendance at INSOL Europe events qualifies for CPD/CPE credits. If so, please let us know the requirements so that we can add your association to this list.

The closest airport is Faro International Airport (FAO) located 24km from Tivoli Marina Hotel.

The most convenient way to reach the hotel is via taxi, the journey time is 30 minutes. There is a taxi rank immediately outside the arrivals hall on the right hand side. The fee is usually €30 - €40 on the meter.
Insight: a 7 seater taxi will cost 20% more, so if you're travelling alone - skip this one in the queue.

A cheaper alternative is to use Uber or Bolt, the collection point is in the short term parking zone "Kiss & Fly" outside the arrivals hall on the left hand side. The fee is usually €20 - €30.
Insight: during busy periods the wait time can be long. If you select "comfort" class, the ride will be a little more expensive with a shorter waiting time.

We do not recommend public transport, as the route is time consuming and buses are not frequent.
However please find the breakdown of instructions below:

- Number 16 bus from Faro Airport to Faro Bus Station
- This journey takes 20 minutes and costs €2.50
- Bus frequency is approximately every 30 minutes
- Then take the number 9 bus from Faro Bus Station to Vilamoura
- This journey takes 50 minutes and costs €5.40
- Bus frequency is approximately every 60 minutes
- The hotel is located a 5 minute walk away from the bus stop
Insight: tickets must be purchased before boarding
